A Year of Learning, Friendship and Community
As another wonderful academic year comes to an end, we find ourselves reflecting not only on everything our students have achieved, but also on the incredible people who make Bromley Greek Language School so much more than a place of learning.
We teach the Greek language, but above all, we nurture a community built on friendship, kindness and a shared love for our heritage. Every year brings memorable moments, and this one has been especially meaningful.
One of the happiest occasions this year was welcoming the beautiful baby of our much-loved teacher, Mrs Kyriaki Kokavesi. Mrs Kokavesi has been part of Bromley Greek Language School since its very beginning, inspiring generations of students with her dedication, warmth and love for teaching. Celebrating this new chapter in her life reminded us that our school shares not only educational milestones but also life’s most precious moments. We were delighted to welcome the newest member of our Greek School family.

Bringing Homer’s Odyssey to Life
The highlight of our end-of-year celebration was an unforgettable theatrical production of Homer’s Odyssey, beautifully directed by Mrs Vanio Papadeli. For many years, Mrs Vanio Papadeli has been the creative force behind our much-loved Christmas and End of Year celebrations. Every year, she volunteers countless hours planning, writing, organising and directing productions that allow our students to showcase their talents while bringing Greek language, history and culture to life. Her passion, creativity and dedication have created treasured memories for generations of families, making these celebrations some of the highlights of our school calendar.
From the Lotus-Eaters and the Cyclops Polyphemus to Circe and Calypso, our talented students transported the audience to Ancient Greece through an inspiring performance filled with enthusiasm, creativity and confidence. Months of rehearsals and preparation culminated in a production that showcased not only their growing knowledge of the Greek language and culture but also their teamwork and determination.

Odysseus’ journey reminds us that no matter how difficult the path may seem, it is often the challenges we overcome that shape who we become. Courage, resilience, patience and perseverance are lessons that reach far beyond the classroom and continue to guide our students throughout their own journeys.
This wonderful production was made possible through the passion and dedication of Mrs Vanio Papadeli, whose creativity and countless hours of preparation brought this ambitious project to life. We are equally proud of our students for embracing every rehearsal with commitment, enthusiasm and joy.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to all of our teachers for their creativity, care and unwavering commitment throughout the year. A special thank you goes to drama educator Katerina Founti for sharing her Greek adaptation of The Odyssey, which inspired this year’s script alongside the adaptations by Karmen Rouggeri, Philippos Mandilaras and Evi Pini.
The Heart of Our School – Our Volunteers
A school is only as strong as the people who stand behind it, and at Bromley Greek Language School we are incredibly fortunate to have volunteers whose generosity, kindness and dedication help make our community flourish.
Every Saturday, Mrs Vicky Saliari, Dr Angeliki Tzelika Zoumbouli and Mrs Maria Kampioti generously give their time to support our students, teachers and families.

Mrs Vicky Saliari’s contribution extends far beyond the classroom. Alongside volunteering every Saturday, she manages our social media, helping us share the life of our school with the wider community and celebrate the achievements of our students. She also provides invaluable support to our Director, Mrs Tina Moira, assisting with the many behind-the-scenes tasks that help keep the school running smoothly throughout the year.
Dr Angeliki Tzelika Zoumbouli volunteers her time every Saturday and continually looks for ways to enrich the experience of our school community. Throughout the year, she has organised inspiring workshops for both students and parents, creating opportunities for learning, wellbeing and stronger connections between our families and the school.
Mrs Maria Kampioti is always there to support our students and teachers with patience, kindness and encouragement. Whether assisting in the classroom or helping wherever she is needed, her quiet dedication and caring nature make a meaningful difference to the experience of every child.
These wonderful volunteers remind us that a community is built through generosity, teamwork and a shared desire to give back. We are deeply grateful for everything they do and for the countless hours they freely dedicate to our school.
A Heartfelt Farewell
This year also brought a bittersweet moment as we said goodbye to one of the pillars of our school community, Mrs Markella Skempri.
For many years, Mrs Markella generously gave her time, energy and heart to Bromley Greek Language School. As one of our longest-serving volunteers, she supported countless school events, welcomed families, helped behind the scenes and contributed in ways too numerous to count. Her kindness, reliability and unwavering commitment have left a lasting mark on our school community.

Although we will miss her dearly, we are incredibly grateful for everything she has given to our school over the years. We wish her every happiness and success in this exciting new chapter of her life, knowing she will always remain a cherished member of our Greek School family.
Thank You to Our Community
Our gratitude extends to every teacher, volunteer, parent and supporter who has contributed to another successful year.
Thank you to everyone who donated snacks and raffle prizes, helping make our celebration such a success, and to The Greek Way for your continued support of our school over the years.
Bromley Greek Language School is much more than a place where children learn Greek.
It is where friendships are formed, where children discover their cultural identity, where families build lasting connections and where people from all walks of life come together to support one another. It is a place where everyone contributes something unique—whether it is their time, talents, knowledge or willingness to help.
Together, we are preserving our language, celebrating our heritage and building a community that our children will always be proud to call their own.
As we close another memorable academic year, we thank every student, parent, teacher, volunteer and supporter who has been part of this journey.
Καλό καλοκαίρι!
We wish everyone a restful, joyful and well-deserved summer break, and we look forward to welcoming you all back in September for another year of learning, friendship and community.
Because at Bromley Greek Language School, we are not simply teaching Greek—we are building a family.
